We were glad to be part of the important conversation at Monday’s forum about the health of African Americans in Fulton County. Our very own Dr. Lynn Paxton shared her insights at the event. It’s no secret that African Americans often face some tough health challenges. For instance, conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease are more common in the African American community than in others. The CDC says that, sadly, African Americans are almost twice as likely to die from things we could have prevented.
The forum brought together people from all walks of life – community leaders, doctors, and everyday residents – to talk about these issues. They brainstormed ways to make healthcare more accessible, help people understand how to stay healthy, and emphasize the importance of catching problems early.
At Fulton County Board of Health, we’re dedicated to making sure everyone in our community has access to good healthcare. We truly believe that by learning and sharing information, we can help close the gaps in health and give everyone a chance to thrive.
