The SKYE Program recently hosted a successful Braiding Workshop, providing local teens with more than just hairstyling techniques. The event aimed to teach practical, hands-on skills that promote confidence, creativity, and personal development.
Participants learned foundational braiding techniques while also exploring how these skills could lead to future opportunities, whether in entrepreneurship, artistic expression, or community service. For many, the workshop offered a unique space to connect, learn, and grow.
“We’re incredibly proud to offer programs like this that empower youth and encourage them to explore new paths,” said a representative from the SKYE Program. “Workshops like these help build not only skills, but self-esteem and purpose.”
The SKYE Program extends a special thank you to The Braid School Co., whose founder led the class and brought invaluable insight and inspiration to the group. Her one-of-a-kind instruction played a key role in the workshop’s success.
The program encourages the community to stay tuned for more youth-focused events, including future braiding workshops and other skill-building opportunities.
