Children’s Medical Services is a statewide program that supports children to young adults (birth to age 21) who have special health care needs by providing affordable primary and specialty medical services as well as access to resources within their communities.
Types of assistance that are offered:
- Genetic counseling
- Inpatient/outpatient hospitalization
- Durable medical equipment
- Medications and supplies
- Diagnostic testing
Eligibility for the CMS program is based on the following:
- Live in Georgia
- Have an eligible medical condition that includes, but is not limited to:
- Asthma, cystic fibrosis, and other lung disorders
- Some hearing disorders
- Neurological and neurosurgery disorders such as seizures, benign tumor, hydrocephalus, and others
- Orthopedic and/or neuromuscular disorders like cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, clubfeet, congenital or traumatic amputations of limbs, and others
- Visual disorders including cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, and others
- Diabetes and other endocrine and genetic disorders
- Craniofacial anomalies (cleft lip/palate)
- Congenital cardiac conditions
