ATLANTA – With the onset of the 2025-2026 respiratory virus season, Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) centers now have the 2025-2026 version of the vaccines to combat COVID-19 and Influenza. FCBOH is currently administering doses of vaccine manufactured by Pfizer for COVID-19. The Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine is now available to patients 5 years of age and older.
This vaccine is strongly recommended for individuals 65 years and older, as well as for those with underlying medical conditions that may increase the risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
High-risk conditions include, but are not limited to:
• Cancer
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• Pregnancy
• Immunocompromised status
• Chronic heart, lung, or liver diseases
A comprehensive list of risk factors can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website: https://www.cdc.gov/covid/risk-factors/
While no prescription is required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, FCBOH clinical staff will counsel patients on the risk-benefit of the vaccine based not only on age but other health conditions.
Seasonal influenza vaccines are also now available at the Fulton County Board of Health Clinics. Flu is a contagious respiratory virus that spreads throughout the U.S. every year, usually between the months of October and May. Anyone can get the flu and serious problems related to the virus can happen at any age. Along with vaccination, preventative actions such as social distancing, frequent handwashing, and covering coughs/sneezes are also recommended. Both the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines can be safely administered during the same visit.
COVID-19 and influenza vaccines are offered at five Fulton County Board of Health locations including our Downtown (10 Park Place), Adamsville, Neighborhood Union, College Park, and North Fulton health centers (Please note that our 10 Park Place location provides vaccines to adults only).
Most major insurance companies cover the cost of COVID vaccination and other immunizations, but individuals should check with their insurer about coverage in their plans. The COVID-19 vaccine currently is covered by federal programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. For individuals without health insurance, please contact your local FCBOH office for assistance in receiving a vaccine.
