Several local families went home with all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, 11/25/2025, as volunteers and community partners joined forces for a free turkey giveaway event. Lines began forming early in the morning outside the distribution site, with residents braving the rainy weather for a chance to bring home a holiday meal for their families. The event, organized by Fulton County Board of Health outreach department, provided frozen turkeys along with bags of sides such as stuffing, vegetables, and dessert mixes. Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas also made an appearance, stopping by to take photos with attendees. Organizers said their goal was not only to meet a practical need, but also to ease the stress many families feel during the holiday season.
Dozens of volunteers helped direct traffic, load cars, and carry bags for seniors. For many, the experience was as meaningful for those giving as for those receiving. By the end of the day, organizers reported that every turkey had been claimed and that they had served more families than in any previous year. They hope to expand the giveaway next Thanksgiving and are already exploring partnerships to provide even more meals in the future.
